Divine warranty? Warranties play a significant role in our purchasing decisions. Several years ago Holly and I bought a high-priced King Size mattress from a well-known brand, which included a one-year warranty against defects. Despite our confidence in the brand, the mattress soon developed noticeable sagging and persistent furrows, no matter how we rotated it. Even with the warranty, we were disappointed to find that our investment did not hold up as expected within that year.
Think about it. Sometimes even a warranty isn’t enough to guarantee value.
God’s Word: “I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please’ (Isaiah 46:10).”
Nothing in life comes with a warrantee. At some point things just may not turn out the way we planned. Life’s outcomes just don’t come with a warrantee that they will meet our expectations, exceed them or come short. Nevertheless, as D.S. Russell wrote, "The coming Kingdom (God’s) is different; it will endure forever and reflect the very nature of God." God offers an eternal warranty, unlike anything temporal. Because we are in Him, we share in His eternal guarantee.
We pray. “Heavenly Father, life often lacking guarantees and outcomes may not meet our expectations. Yet, we find solace in Your eternal promise. Your Kingdom endures forever. Thank You for offering us an eternal warranty through our relationship with You. In Jesus name. Amen.”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
