Cutting corners? Cutting corners in government as in private is problematic. And, when it comes to government, many today believe that America is a nation in great trouble. Could it be that cutting corners has put us there? We have done it to ourselves?
Think about it. In 1857 English historian Thomas Babington Macaulay wrote to an American friend: “Your Republic will be invaded and ruined by barbarians in the 20th century just as the Roman Empire was in the 5th, with this difference, the barbarians who ravaged the empire came from outside her borders, and yours will have been created from within, by your own institutions and your own government.
God’s Word tells us: “The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them. They are prophesying to you false visions, divinations, idolatries[a] and the delusions of their own minds. (Jeremiah 14:14).
“I pray today in Jesus name that God will spare His judgment on us despite our sins as a nation and our misguided and often ungodly government that strives to dethrone our God to replace Him with a secular king.” Amen!
Could it be that, as a country, we’ve been “cutting corners;” trying as we will to prosper without God? If so, it’s only a matter of time until the Piper must be “paid.” God bless America!
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
