Consuming fire?

Consuming fire? One thing always leads to another, especially with barking dogs. Many years ago, while working at my home office, the LP gas delivery man arrived. Our rescue dog at the time, Annie, barked. Little Sammie, our little wiener dog, yipped in response, and Frodo, the other wiener dog, howled. A single bark escalated into three howls, turning a simple interruption into a major annoyance.

Think about it. As you and I go through life, we often find ourselves trying hard, but only going along tentatively. How does God view that?

God’s Word tells us: “Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared (Romans 8:38-39).”

Anger, like a dog’s quick bark, escalates quickly. We often blame situations, but it's our choice to react with anger. The Bible warns that anger ensnares its victims. Remember, anger is a choice. No one or nothing makes us angry; we choose to be. Next time, remind yourself that controlling your reaction is up to you. Do let anger consume who you are.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, help us recognize that anger is our choice, not a reaction forced upon us. Grant us the wisdom to pause, reflect, and respond with patience and grace. Guide our hearts away from anger’s snare, reminding us to choose peace and understanding  In Jesus Christ name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
