Choices?

Choices? We make hundreds of decisions daily; one psychiatrist suggests up to 800. These range from turning off the alarm clock to opting for a second helping of mashed potatoes. Choices vary in significance, some debated, others by habit. Ultimately, choosing is perhaps our most frequent conscious daily activity.

Think about it. When making decisions in general. How about sin? Are there decisions involved, and how much does choice play a role?

God’s Word tells us: “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death (Proverbs 16:25).”

The Bible says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death” (Proverbs 16:25). Sin is a choice we make, not something we fall into. Since sin is about choice, we can also choose not to sin. God gives us the freedom to make choices, so discernment and patience can help us avoid sinful risks.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, sin is a choice we make. Since sin is about choice, we can also choose not to sin. God gives us the freedom to make choices, so discernment can help us avoid sinful risks and make better decisions, ultimately choosing good over evil. In Jesus name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
