Building my patience? I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve heard, “You need to learn patience, Mark.” If there were a school for it, I’d enroll immediately. If only there was a window where I could order a batch of backup patience! But maybe it’s not hopeless. Perhaps we can practice patience to build enough of it to get through the day.
Think about it. Patience is hard. We trust God’s timing, but when it feels delayed, we act on our own, thinking it's His will.
God’s Word: “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord (Psalm 27:14).”
“Only a few more hours, we’re almost there!” How different things would turn out for us. The battle intended for our victory perhaps would not have been the defeat it turned out to be. Sometimes God’s is just testing our patience to build our patience. The worst thing we can do is try to tell Him when the testing is done. Be patient. He will always let us know when He is finished. “Mark, be patient; we’re almost there!”
We pray. “Heavenly Father, grant me the patience to trust Your perfect timing in all events in my life. When I feel impatient and tempted to act on my own, remind me to wait on You. Help me lean on Your wisdom, knowing Your plans are always better than my own. In Jesus name. Amen.”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matt 6:34) This Passing Day
