Bridges not walls?

Bridges not walls? Trust is a very fragile commodity; one that is often dropped and broken even by the best of friends. When we are faced with the prospect of rebuilding a trust that has been severely shattered, it can be a daunting task. Bridges not walls may be the answer.

Think about it. Sometimes we need to build a love bridge to help us overcome years of distrust. When we build walls instead of bridges, isn’t it true that distrust will undoubtedly overcome any possibility of love down the road?

God’s Word: “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, … (Ephesians 4:29a).”

Divisive hurt within a family is the worst kind of pain. Bonds forged in blood can be broken only with great effort. Once shattered, they can explode, separating siblings, spouses, and parents. The prophet Micah warns us to “guard the doors of your mouth.” Distrust can develop even between loved ones, leading to suspicion and hatred. Strive to control your tongue and build bridges, not walls. It may require effort, but with God’s Word and love, you can create something solid. Is there a bridge to build in your life today? Pray for God’s help in strengthening it.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, help us recognize the hurt within our families. Teach us to guard our words and build bridges of trust instead of walls. Guide us in healing relationships and fostering forgiveness through Your Word and love. Strengthen our foundation for peace and unity. In Jesus' name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
