Bootstraps?

Real bootstraps? We often figure that if we get into a tangle we’ll find a way to get out on our own. It’s that old adage, “You’ve got to be able to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps?”

Think about it. Unfortunately, when real trouble brews we often don’t look for help; holding out hope that, in the end, we’ll figure a way out of the problem on our own.

God’s Word: …“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope” (Romans 15:13).

Whatever problem there’s always some cliche we can rely on to bolster our confidence and spur us on in the will to fight it through; that is, until that a problem comes along and we’ve no idea what to do and, grabbing for those bootstraps, there’s nothing there to hold onto. When we have nothing left but God, we quickly become aware that God is and has always been enough; a bootstrap that is always there if only we look for it.

“Heavenly Father, help me to always look to You for comfort and peace, and to trust You whatever circumstances I have in life. You are sovereign, and You know what's best for me. I trust that You still have a great purpose for me; help me to fulfill it, Lord, despite any challenges. In Jesus name. Amen!”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
