Blunders?

Blunders? I’m generally skilled in carpentry, handling various projects around Beech Springs, but the bathroom vanity was a notable failure. Despite investing months in design, construction, and installation, it proved nonfunctional. Holly had to ask me to remove it and get professional help. Watching the vanity burn, I initially felt disheartened, but as the flames consumed my work, I experienced a surprising relief. My mistakes and frustrations were disappearing, which, in the end, felt quite liberating.

Think about it. Failure is inevitable in this life. As Christians we can choose to dwell on the blunders or put them behind us; a simple choice when you weigh the options.

God’s Word: "For I know the plans I have for you, ’declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’ (Jeremiah 29:11).”

What a perspective on seemingly disastrous events like business failures, divorces, or embarrassing projects. Our response determines their impact. By reflecting and learning from blunders, starting over can be a chance to move past mistakes. It’s a choice between defeat and opportunity, and the latter seems much easier when you think about it.

We pray. “Heavenly Father, in times of failure and disappointment, grant us the wisdom to reflect and grow. Help us see setbacks as opportunities. Strengthen our resolve to embrace hope and transformation, turning challenges into triumphs through Your guidance. In Jesus name. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
