Best offer? Martin Luther wrote: “I have held many things in my hand, and have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God's hands that I still possess.” As I look around at all the things here at Beech Springs I am struck by how easy it would be to lose them all.
Think about it. Luther really had it right. Most of the things that we can hold in this life, whether that be a job, a deed or, for that matter, even a marriage license, can slip through our fingers. The expectation of ownership is the problem.
God’s Word tells us: “At the end of every seven years you must cancel debts” (Deuteronomy 15:1).
Ultimately you and I must expect to own nothing but our faith. God will decide. To own things we need collateral, so the collateral owns us. To own our faith, God owns the collateral, the blood of Christ, so our faith is free, own-able and ours. Now that’s truly a fabulous offer.
“Heavenly Father, I am coming to You confessing my need of You in my life, and pray that You will forgive me of my pride in trying to be the god of my own existence. Lord, I have made me the center of my life and not You, and I pray You would help me to change.” In Jesus name. Amen!”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
