At the helm? What gave our forefathers the strength to face real dangers without losing sleep, maintaining self-sufficiency and liberty? They trusted in God. Today, Americans rush to government for protection, often willing to sacrifice precious freedoms. An old poll from The Ladies Home Journal revealed that 40% trusted Walter Cronkite, 26% trusted the Pope, 41% trusted in no one in particular, and only 3% trusted God. Without trust in God, it's no surprise that we’re filled with fear and doubt, even when facing distant threats.
Think about it. Why does our nature drive us to rely on ability and control, while making faith difficult to embrace, especially when we feel threatened?
God’s Word: "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9b).”
God promises to never leave us, but it’s hard to believe when fear surrounds us. God’s people Israel faced wild beasts and illness, and battled constant enemies. It was either rely on alliances or trust God, their faithful co-pilot. Choosing God as our guide, instead of relying on anyone else, should be a simple decision. He’s always in control, steering us through fear, always at the helm.
We pray. “Heavenly Father, Lord, be with me always. Grant me strength and courage to follow Your guidance, trusting in Your presence through every challenge. Help me remain faithful to Your Word, knowing You are in control, leading me to victory and peace. In Jesus' name. Amen.”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matt 6:34)
