Assuming?

Senses? Sometimes our senses tell us one thing, and reality another. Often the events in life around us, reacted to, give us mixed signals. On the one hand it may be something we are absolutely sure of. On the other, we may not have a way of actually confirming it.

Think about it. Life is like that. Its windows often give us a glimpse of understanding; but walking outside of our assumptions, we may experience something altogether different. So it is with suffering. Suffering stands between us and God. We glimpse Him as through a window, but often not clearly. Suffering stands between us and Him.

God’s Word tells us: “Why, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?” (Psalm 10: 1).

When we suffer, faith gives us the ability to grapple with our misgivings, but seeing God coming to us at a distance; our senses dulled by the suffering. Faith compels us to seek Him. Anxiety, however, may prompt us to believe He is not there. Nevertheless, we need to reach out through our suffering to secure the hope that waits for us outside the window of faith.

“I pray today in Jesus name that when we start to make assumptions about what God may be doing in our lives, we stop and ask Him before we make decisions based on mere our own perceptions. Amen!”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) www.thispassingday.com
