Ask for miracles? Do you believe in miracles, or are you content with everyday occurrences? Most of us settle for good fortune or dumb luck. The other day, I arrived at the office later than usual, expecting all the parking spots to be taken. Surprisingly, a prime spot was available right across from the entrance. Was it a miracle? No, just good luck, but it made my day. For the moment, I didn’t need a divine intervention to feel satisfied.
Think about it. Is that how we pray sometimes; content with God’s “regular” answers to prayer, unwilling to deal with His miracles?
God’s Word: "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows (James 1:17).”
God promises that, “Before (we) call I will answer; while (we) are speaking I will hear (Isaiah 65:24). I guess that takes prayer completely out of the dumb luck or good fortune category, doesn’t it? It makes miracles real. There is never a need to settle for a “regular” God when He is able to say, “yes” even before we know “what.” Never be shy to ask God for a miracle if you have need of one. As it turns out, it may already be in the mail.
We pray. “Heavenly Father, thank You for every gift You provide, whether big or small. Help me to recognize Your hand in the everyday blessings and to be grateful for Your constant presence. May I always trust in Your unchanging goodness, knowing that all good things come from You. In Jesus name. Amen.”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
