The art of waiting? There’s an art to waiting. When we’re confronted with things that make us wait, these become the enemy. We go into endurance mode, like a walled city under siege; we plunk down and contest the time with our foe, the thing that makes us wait.
Think about it. I believe that God wants the wait to be just another opportunity to tune into His grace. There is no foe, just our Divine Maker and Friend tapping us on the shoulder and gently whispering, “I’m here.
God’s Word tells us: “At the LORD's command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained in camp” (Numbers 9:18).
When we endure waiting, we simply are waiting with God for whatever will be coming next. There are no empty moments in life, only missed opportunities to fill the quiet moments with meaning. Endurance puts the ball in our court; waiting keeps it in God’s; can’t argue with that.
“Heavenly Father, thank You for providing for my victory in waiting. I will quiet my mind and heart in response to Your words. I choose to listen to Your direction and Your guidance. Help me to be calm and rest in the fact that You will give me victory in this circumstance. In Jesus name Amen!”
