Above the pain? How far will you go to avoid pain? Is there a side to pain that is good? Could God be actively using that pain to bring about something good in us? Or, is pain just one more consequence of sin and we’ll just have to grin and bear it?
Think about it. When painful things happen in our lives, rather than asking God to do a removing job, perhaps we need to be looking to Him to do an improving job. It is often said “To realize the worth of the anchor, it must feel the storm.”
God’s Word tells us: "Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin," (1 Peter 4:1).
Our task is to step upon the painful path, get a footing and rise above the pain to find the joy of hope in Jesus Christ. He never avoided pain but used it. And like that Big Brother, if we take His hand and watch our footing, we’ll make it to the top.
“I pray today in Jesus name that when affliction, even pain and suffering come into our lives, we will look heavenward for our comfort, asking only that God will give us the faith and hope to endure. Amen!”
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)www.thispassingday.com
