A Star and a Cross?

A star, a cross? Why did Jesus come to earth? How should we value and commemorate that? The fact is, Jesus came to this earth to disrupt and divide and cull out, not come to make everything better. He was on God's mission to expose sin, to make war on it. He came to divide.

Think about it. His purpose was to divide those who believed from those who didn't. There would be no peace between these foes. The final competition between the devil and those who believe on Jesus Christ, is the reason He came.

God’s Word tells us: “Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three (Luke 12:51-52).”

As we celebrate Christmas it's good to be reminded Jesus didn't come just to make it possible for families to gather and exchange gifts. These are but expressions of thankfulness and joy we are moved to do because of what our God has done for us. Jesus came to bring war to the planet; to tear apart the sinful fabric of the world. The Christmas star– a foreshadowing of Calvary's, cross.

We pray. “Father, Lord, change my heart and my life that I may fully live for You. Help me to choose what is right and to turn away from every sin and from every attachment to worldliness which keeps me from loving and serving You wholeheartedly—at the manger and the cross. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34)
