Insurmountable?

My friend, may I ask you a question? At times life can be overwhelming. Your wanting things better will not make them happen, but is wanting the seed of dreams and believing the nourishment that makes them possible?

My friend, life’s a story, welcome to This Passing Day. I’m Mark Brunner.

The funny thing about stuff that gets in our way in this life is this: Some people make victims of their disadvantages, while others are victimized by them. Take dogs for example. The other day I was watching little Frodo chew on one of the bigger dog's bones. It was far too heavy for him to lift in his jaws, so he wasn't able to move it from one spot to another. When he felt it was time to move the bone for one of a variety of reasons dogs pick up and move, he simply stopped chewing and waited for one of our two larger dogs to pick the bone up and move it. Then he would insinuate himself between them and their bone when he felt the path was safe and begin his chewing all over again. If only you and I were so predisposed to making OUR disadvantages into such advantages.

Here's a story: "My life is not going as planned." The young man said as he wandered through the woods. "I feel like I am lost in the woods and can't find my way out." "You are not lost. You're learning how to trust" a distant voice replied and echoed again; "to trust yourself and believe that every step you've taken was in the right direction." "The right direction would have taken me out of the forest." The man replied. "Not if you were meant to learn about trees." The voice stated." "Trees are like obstacles that get in my way." The man retorted. "They serve no purpose but to block my view." The voice then asked, "Do you have faith in God?" "Yes." He replied. "But I can't understand why He would leave me here." "What you see as obstacles may be the answer to prayer. You cannot limit the way God helps you. Your time 'lost in the woods' doesn't mean you will always be surrounded by trees," the voice assured him. "The feeling of being lost in the woods means you are making your own path through life. That is a reflection of the faith God has in your ability to make it through a difficult journey. The good news is that one day you will arrive at a clearing." The kindly voice continued. "It is on that day when you will be thankful for the trees." (Bob Perks)

At times life can be overwhelming. Your wanting things better will not make them happen, but wanting is the seed of dreams and believing is the nourishment that makes them possible. If your journey has been difficult and you feel "lost in the woods," stop for a moment and ask God to tell you about the trees that surround you. They were placed not to block your view, but help you to appreciate the day you, too will "arrive at a clearing." Only by insinuating yourself, inserting yourself between you and your insurmountable problems can you sometimes find a way to make the impossible, possible.

We pray. Heavenly Father, life is about good things and bad things which You ordain to happen in our lives. We prefer the good thing Lord, because these are easier to cope with. Yet, we know that often times the bad things have been ordained for good reason. Forgive us when we separate these from those because we want to believe that only good things should happen to good people. We know that is not true. You use all things, good and bad, to strengthen us in our faith. Help us to see past those things that block our view of the good purposes You have for us in this life. Thank You Father. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!

Therefore my friend, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry for itself; each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matt 6:34) This Passing Day. May this passing day honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and be a blessing to you and everyone you meet. Find a stranger and say hello. Don't let another day pass without your day blessing someone else.
